Growing Vegetables for our feeding scheme
Apart from assisting in becoming more self sufficient, this project will teach children to not only grow vegetables for use at the school, but how to use recycled items as the planters and drip feeders.
We have the ideal area at the Ubunye Educare Centre
which we want to use to start a vegetable garden.
The area earmarked for the vegetable garden
We are looking for wood, screw & wood sealer for the raised stands, as well as a handy man (or 2) who can build the stands for us. Donations of seeds, seedlings, and composted soil will also be very welcome.
The children will collect the containers, and will assist with the planting of the seeds. They will learn how to use water from the kitchen and bathrooms to water the garden.

390,000 meals have been served from this kitchen at Ubunye Educare Centre.
That's right - you read correctly! The team at Ubunye Educare Centre
, in Dunoon, have produced more than 390,000 for the children. Unfortunately, kitchen appliances do not always last the time span that we wish they could.
We are looking for a new large freezer for the kitchen.
Can you assist?

Ubunye Educare Centre, a non-fee paying grade R education centre, is our prime project, and we are always looking for assistance in improving the lives of our educators and children.
The school is once again full to capacity and has a waiting list with parents asking for the expansion of the school to higher grades as well as they do not want to leave. There is however no space in Dunoon close to us and we are doing investigation into acquiring land either in a nearby area of Dunoon or across the highway in Wolverrevier.
All Company, private and Government donors who contributed for the last year, are committed again and donations are rolling in to make sure the school keeps on succeeding at the task.
We do however have ongoing needs, and you can get involved and make a difference.
